Discontinued as of Spring Semester 2016 Covers the computer hardware architecture and its implementation with case studies of current machines. Includes uni- and multi- processors; processor architectures and enhancements; memory hierarchies; processor and system buses; I/O sub-systems, and peripherals. Labs focus on exercising the low-level hardware/software interface of a number of machine architectures, estimating the impact of enhancements on system performance and case studies of new architectures. Prerequisite(s): A minimum "C" grade in CPSC 2180 and 2401; or permission of the department. Prerequisites are valid for only three years.
