**Discontinued** was last offered Fall 2005 Last Updated: 01-DEC-2005 The study of visual communication as it relates to the print medium. The design process is explored to encourage visual problem solving. Focus is on typography, its history, appropriateness and personality. Introduction to color palettes, logo design and layout styles. Skill building in the "hands on areas" of felt marker comping, black and white line illustration, comping of ads and layouts, and presentation techniques, all with the emphasis on craftmanship and deadlines.
