NURS 4182 : The Lived Experience of Disability

This course explores the lived experience of individuals with a disability and the roles of both the nurse and the nursing profession in that experience. Participants will have the opportunity to define disability, explore the history of disability, learn about the challenges faced in everyday life by those with a disability, and begin to appreciate the experience of life with a disability. Rehabilitation and the journey to optimal health will be discussed. Prerequisite(s): A minimum "C+" grade in NURS 3216 and 3235; and an "S" grade in NURS 3246.
