**Discontinued** was last offered Fall 2003 Last Updated: 14-OCT-2004 Since 1951 there has been a rapid growth in the number of First Nations Canadians living in the city. Despite this there has been little academic attention given to the systematic study of Canadian aboriginal peoples living in urban centres. This course introduces students to the problems and prospects faced by Canadian First Nations peoples in urban environments. Topics include migration, housing, employment and a critical examination of government policy regarding acculturation and assimilation.
