**Discontinued** was last offered Summer 2006Discontinued as of Fall Semester 2006 Last Updated: 28-SEP-2006 The primary objective of this course is to prepare students to successfully deal with everyday challenges encountered when designing, installing and administering a Local Area Network or a Wide Area Network. The importance of enterprise wide deployment of computing resources will be discussed in the context of today's true client/server environment, including the Windows Graphic User Interface. Network topologies, protocols, standards, and network operating systems will be discussed in detail. The strongest component of this course is the extensive hands-on practice using dedicated training servers where students have supervisor privileges for thorough coverage of Novell network operating system commands and utilities. Students are expected to have a home computer, which can be used for hands-on hardware projects. The Internet will be used extensively for troubleshooting and research of computer problems. Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to successfully challenge the CNA designation test by Novell.
Prerequisite(s): CISY 1114 and 1115 and 1117.
