**Discontinued** was last offered Summer 2006Discontinued as of Fall Semester 2006 Last Updated: 28-SEP-2006 Design techniques for Data Base Management Systems. Topics discussed include data dictionaries, Entity-Relationships (E-R) data modelling, normalization, relational data structures, access methods, SQL data manipulation language, embedded SQL, data base administration, and data base performance issues. Several data base packages for mainframe, mini and microcomputers are examined. Assignments involving data base design, normalization, and implementation, are carried out making extensive use of the SQL data manipulation language. MS-Access and ORACLE are used for database projects.
Prerequisite(s): CISY 1114, 1115, and 1117. Note: Restricted to students enrolled in Computer Information Systems Program.
